Purchased in 2015, this 1962 Volkswagen Beetle is a project I’m working on for my wife. When I met my wife, she had a ‘63 ruby red Volkswagen that she had to push start everywhere she went. She eventually got another car, however, but she always wanted another Volkswagen. I got the chance to buy this one a few years ago. Therefore, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring back a happy part of my wife’s past. It came with some great history, and I have all the paperwork for it.

This 1962 Volkswagen Beetle is a fantastic little car, and we’ve been slowly working on it for a few months now. It’s a very original car. For instance, it’s got the original motor, which has been rebuilt, and very little of the car has been restored. We’re in the process of restoring it ourselves, and are looking forward to when it’s all put back together.

The first thing we did to this 1962 Volkswagen Beetle was address the rust that was up around the roof. After that, we took the convertible frame bows and had them sandblasted and powder coated red again, and we’re fitting all the new wood to it. In addition, we’re most likely going to tear the whole car down over the winter and do a full paint job since we’re already halfway there

Mechanically, we’ve got it running well. It’s got a 12 volt system, and it’s got the original 1200cc motor in it. In conclusion. it’s the slowest, funnest car we own, and it makes my wife feel like she’s 16 years old again.
