A gentleman brought in this 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday 4 door hardtop to have a brake conversion done on it. At first, he only wanted us to do the front brakes to save some money. However, after the conversion, the back brakes eventually failed.

The owner brought the Oldsmobile back in and we discovered that the rear axle seals and bearings were shot. Additionally, there was gear oil all over the brakes and the slave cylinders had stopped working. In the end, we cleaned the brakes, inserted new bearings and seals, new slave cylinders and bled the brakes on the Oldsmobile. After that, the brake conversion was complete and working properly.

The Oldsmobile 88 was produced between 1949 and 1999 by Oldsmobile, and was seen as one of the best performing vehicles in its earlier years. Its light weight, small size and advanced V8 engine helped push the 88 into the spotlight in the early 1950s.

This model is from the second-generation of 88s produced by Oldsmobile from 1954-1956. The model year 1956 saw some new styling changes from the previous models. A split grill, redesigned tail lights, and altered side chrome designs were some of the most noticeable updates.
